The Langone Medical Center, NYU, 2022 celebrated the graduation ceremony of the first class that benefitted from their full-tuition scholarships, a program that started in 2018. This program continues, and prospects can apply when the next session comes.
The scholarship program covers a yearly tuition of $55,018; however, students will still be expected to foot the bill in the sum of about $29,000 each year in room and other living expenses.
The plan is to bring up the diversity of those venturing into the field of medicine by providing tuition for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access education at NYU.
NYU has said the free tuition would cost about $600 million to fund indefinitely, having raised about $450 million as of 2018, according to The New York Times.
American billionaire Ken Langone and his wife contributed $100 million out of the total raised funds.

NYU Langone Health is an academic medical center located in New York City. The health system consists of NYU Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Long Island School of Medicine, both of New York University (NYU). It also hosts within it the Rusk Rehabilitation Institute.
