After blowing up on TikTok, many had safety and nutritional concerns over the Pink Sauce and wrote it off as a mere gimmick.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the sauce, which was created by content creator Chef Carly Pii has now been approved by the FDA.
Pii has partnered with Dave’s Gourmet to sell the sauce. The product can now be found in over 4,000 Walmart stores across the U.S.
“Everything is still kind of surreal. But it’s very real. We’ve been working very hard for the Pink Sauce to come out so soon in 4,300 stores. I mean, it’s crazy,” Pii told the outlet.
“More than anything, I have a smile on my face every day. I wake up and do what I have to do to better myself as a person and a businesswoman because somebody else is watching me, and I’m giving someone else hope. That’s the biggest gift.”
The retail price of the product is set at $7.78, which is a huge drop-off from its previous pricing of $20.
A Product Fit For Use?
Reviews about the product have been flooding in, with some showing excitement, while some have derided the inconsistency, especially in the ‘pink’ color the product promises.
The Pink Sauce went viral in July 2022, following videos posted on TikTok where the creator with the handle @chef.pii, I tried out the sauce as a side for fried chicken, fries, and tacos.
Pii racked up over 80,000 followers within a month of posting and over 3 million likes. However, the launch didn’t go smoothly from there on.
The chef complained about lacking the time and opportunity to make mistakes and learn through trial and error, as a huge demand for the product already existed before it was actually perfected.
It seems she has taken the months since then to do just that, in order to create a product that will become more than just a trend.
